Rochester: Saturday, December 5, 2009 at age 86. He is predeceased by his wife, Aurora Beltran Garcia and daughter, Altagracia Virginia Alvarez Beltran. Survived by son, Dr. Franco Alvarez Beltran (Zoraida); daughter, Carmen M. Bird (Charlie); grandchildren, Dr. Dauri Z. Alvarez Gomez (Juan), Dawn M. Bird- Belmonte (Patrick), Capt. Frank J. Bird (Tammi), Agnes Z. Alvarez Caniza (Dr. Rafael), Dr. Franco Alvarez Berrios (Deborah); 9 great- grandchildren; sister, Hilda Alvarez Pagan; many nieces and nephews.
Franco served for over 20 years in the US Army and also served in WW II and the Korean War.
Family will receive friends on Monday, December 7th, from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 6 Empire Blvd. Interment in Puerto Rico National Military Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
