Mayer, Gaetana K. "Gaye"
Palm Bay, FL/Rochester, NY: December 31, 2009. Born in NYC on February 5,1923. She attended Jefferson Junior college, Rochester Business Institute and the University of Rochester. Gaye retired from the Department of Social Services in Rochester, New York as an Examiner and was also a Licensed Insurance Agent for Westchester Fire & Marine (Chub & Son).
She and her late husband, Howard moved to Palm Bay in 1985 from Rochester, New York, where she was involved in numerous Volunteer Activities including: Served as Activities Chairman of Friends & Newcomers Club (FANS) of Brevard; Past member Planning and zoning Board of Malabar Florida; Chairman and Member of the Board of Trustees of Holiday Park; Secretary and member of the Board of Directors of South Brevard Seniors Association.
Gaye and Howard traveled extensively, visiting Europe several times and spent vacations cruising to South America, Honduras and Guatemala. Friends were entertained with videotaped recordings of visits to the Galapagos Islands and Hawaii.
Survivors include daughter, Allison G. Kelly of Stoneham, MA; son, Howard Mayer, Jr. of Rochester, NY: sister, Mildred DiFranco of Rochester, NY; Patricia G. Estok (who was like a daughter to me) of Stoneham, MA; several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may attend calling hours Wednesday, 6-8 PM at New Comer Funeral Home, 6 Empire Blvd., Rochester, NY 14609 where a Funeral Service will be held Thursday 10 AM. The courtesy of no flowers is appreciated. Entombment, Irondequoit Cemetery.
