It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of George F. Dailey (Pops), husband, father, grandfather, who left us peacefully on October 10th, 2024 at the amazing age of 93.
Pops was a man of infectious humor and wisdom, and lover of apple pie and Sunday sauce. As a young man, he was well-positioned to join major league baseball, but an injury altered that course and he embarked on a multi-faceted life which included serving in the U.S. military and enjoying a high-level security position in connection with government clearance duties at Eastman Kodak. Pops had a deep passion for bowling and golf (his “golfing buddy” was Roger who shared an equal passion for the sport). He was a sought-after teammate in his Monday & Tuesday bowling leagues well into his 90s (along with friends Mike, Cal and others) and was awarded many trophies and acknowledgments for his excellence in bowling. His favorite baseball team was the NY Yankees, and his charisma, quick wit and off-the-cuff humor would always charm and put a smile on the face of family and friends. He will also be remembered for the “go-cart" he designed and built which delighted the neighborhood kids.
George Dailey is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy, step-daughter Betty (Trim), step-son Ray (Trim), son-in-law (Lee Macey), and step-grandson (Anthony McDaniel). He is also survived by family members from his first marriage whom, at their request, have asked to not be listed.
Per George's instructions, there will be no formal service. Private Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
