George R. Hogan III, Local Rochester Artist and Musician.
Preceding George were his brothers, James Hogan, and Richard N. Blodgett, Sr. (Joan), and his sisters Dixie L. Discoll (Timothy), and Phyllis A. Blodgett (Richard).
Born on June 12, 1945 in Rochester, NY passed peacefully on October 23, 2023 at Strong Memorial Hospital with his lifetime partner, Nanci Hammond Basch, at his side, along with his daughter, Penny Hogan.
George was the son of the late George Richard Hogan, Sr., step-father Herbert Leadbetter, and Margaret Nichols, all of Rochester.
Surviving are his children, Penny A. (John) Hogan, George R. Hogan, IV (Holly), Joseph A. Hogan. Nanci's son, Michael Basch (Alison) whom George was like a father to. He was the step-father of, Nancy Lou Smith (Dan), and Robert Stanton.
Surviving are his sisters: Cindy Hogan, Karen S. Leadbetter (Jeff), Linda Presti (John), Margaret/Peggy R. Wurzer (Timothy), and brothers George Hogan, John W Blodgett, Peter Hogan (Pat), Richard Hogan, and Russell Hogan. George leaves several grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
George, a country music star and songwriter in his own town, leaves us with thousands of hours of entertainment as "Elvis," "Johnny Cash," "Willie Nelson," and other country artists whose songs he loved to perform. With artistic talents in oils and acrylics, George has been self-employed since 1972. His first business was "Signs of the Time," hand-painted business signs, with his work still displayed all over the city. His talent in painting allowed him to create his first television show at WXXI, "Art from the Heart" (and still found on YouTube) for over ten years to teach others how to awaken their painting talents.
George's endearing and sparkling personality touched thousands of friends and fans.
There will be a Celebration of Life memorial service on November 18th, 1:00 p.m. - 4:00p.m. at Newcomer Cremations and Funerals, 2636 Ridgeway Ave, Rochester, NY 14626.
In lieu of flowers, friends may donate to the ARTISANworks, 565 Blossom Rd, Rochester, NY 14610 (585)-288-7170 in the honor of George R. Hogan, III.
