Gerda Ruth Schmidt

Chili - Passed away on November 16, 2023 at the age of 96.
Predeceased by her parents, Julius & Anna (Obst) Freitag; sisters, Hilda, Erna, Bertha, & Ella.
She is survived by her children, Phillip (Mirna) Schmidt, Deborah Schmidt, & Daniel (Jerry) Schmidt; grandchildren, Julian (Karolina) Staller, Alexis Stewart, & Tyler Schmidt; great-granddaughter, Ava Stewart; brother, Herbert Freitag; many nieces, nephews, & cousins.
Gerda was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was member of her much loved Orchard Community Church. She was a church deacon and lifelong active member. She was a past women's missionary society president and an active Christian missions supporter. She was a volunteer teacher with literacy volunteers and a holistic healer through therapeutic massage.
She was a great listener, always with kind and wise words.
God gave us the gift of her beautiful spirit for 96 years and now she is back in his loving arms.
Family will receive friends 9:00 am - 11:00 am followed with a Prayer Closing at 11:00 am, Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 2636 Ridgeway Avenue. Family Interment at Churchville Creekside Cemetery.
