Gerta Sybil Carpenter

Passed away peacefully on July 26, 2023. Born November 4, 1929 in Rochester, NY, she is predeceased by her parents, Louis and Sara Gage Haley; husband, Donald A. Carpenter; grandson, Nathaniel Carpenter Merritt-Mervine; sister, Gene Alma Sweet; brothers, Belford Haley, Walter Haley and Venton Haley; brother-in-law, Tom Ryan. She is survived by daughters, Donna (George) Biro, Andra (Eric) Farley; granddaughter-in-law, Leah Merritt-Mervine; sister-in-laws, Charlotte Ryan and Linda Haley along with several nieces and nephews. Gerta graduated in 1947 from Spencerport High School. She and Don wed in November of 1947 and were married 73 years at the time of his passing in 2021. Gerta enjoyed watching classic films and keeping in touch with family and friends. However her greatest delight was her enduring love of reading and book collection. A very loving and devoted wife, mother and friend, Gerta will be missed by all who knew her. In accordance with Gerta's wishes there will be no services or prior calling.
