Heinrich Rainald Stelzer

February 12, 1930 — July 6, 2022

Heinrich "Henry" Rainald Stelzer, loving husband, father, and grandfather passed peacefully in his sleep on, July 6, 2022. He was 92.

Henry was born in Leipzig Germany to parents, Karl Felix and Johanne Sophie Stelzer.

Henry was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Karl Ulrich Stelzer, sister, Sigune Uta Stelzer, and grandson, Patrick Lamonica, son of daughter, Karina.

He is survived by Patricia, his wife of over 40 years; his brother, Friedrich Johann Stelzer of Julich, Germany; his children, Karina (Brandon) Thibodeau of Farmington, MN, Peter (Karen) Stelzer of Lafeyette, CA, and Michael (Jennifer) Stelzer of Clifton Park, NY; and his grandchildren Stephanie LaMonica, Kate Stelzer, Maya Stelzer, Sam Stelzer and Emily Stelzer. He is also survived by cherished nieces and nephews and his wife's children, Teresa Lamb, Cecelia Allen, and Paula Fox, along with their children. His beloved cat, Mitsi, will miss him.

His early life and experiences shaped his personality and his desire to support and nurture his family and to live a simple life. After immigrating to America via Canada, Henry settled in Rochester, NY and was employed for many years as a civil engineer.

He had an infectious smile and gentle disposition and was known for his off-beat sense of humor. He had an inquisitive mind and enjoyed discussions of current affairs and advances in science and technology.

Henry enjoyed summer visits to North Truro, Cape Cod for over 50 years. His family has many fond memories of camping and spending days at the beach. More recently, he travelled to Florida in the winter. Henry felt the Cape Cod air and warmth of Florida were essential for his good health and overall well-being.

In addition to travel, flower and vegetable gardening and spending time with family were favorite past times. He and his sister grew Clivia flowers, which his mother brought back from a vacation in South Africa over 50 years ago. His daughter, Karina, carries on the tradition of raising offspring from the original plant.

He was held with the highest regard by all who met him, was dearly loved and will be sorely missed.
