On Monday, February 1, 2021, Henry Joseph Lybrand, loving husband and father of three, passed away at age 90.
Throughout his life, he was a talented athlete. In high school and the Air Force, he participated in track and field, baseball, and football. In his later life he enjoyed golf, bowling, track and field in the Senior Olympics. After the Air Force, he attended trade schools. He worked at the Diners Club and Rochester Telephone as a computer operator.
In 1959, he met the love of his life, Odessa Brown. They married in September of 1959 and had three daughters, Donna, Denise and Doreen.
Henry was a talented artist who had a passion for Drum Corp music. He combined two of his favorite hobbies by preforming and providing the art work for the drums the Charles W. Dickerson Fife, Drum and Bugle Corp. He credits his brothers and the Free Masons for helping him become the man he was. He was also very involved in Mt. Olivet Baptist Church where he was an usher and Deacon.
He was known for his sense of humor, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Benny, Malverse, Louise, Lloyd, Horace, Anna, Mabel, and Earline.
He is survived by his wife Odessa, his three children, Donna, Denise, Doreen, several cousins, nieces, nephews and lots of friends.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled once COVID restrictions are eased. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Heart Association.
