Herbert Alfred Schafer, 93, passed away December 1, 2020.
Born March 5, 1927 in Rochester NY, to Otto and Elise Schafer, he was the youngest of 3, and the first born in the United States. He graduated from Monroe High School in Rochester NY, going on to serve in the United States Navy during World War II. Later he would graduate from the Rochester Institute of Technology class of 1950. He worked for Xerox Corporation as a Sr. Architectural Designer for 31 years. He had a passion for Frank Lloyd Wright architecture and Corvettes. He was a man devoted to The Lord, and to his family.
Predeceased by brothers, Frederick, Helmut; daughters, Sharon, Kathy; granddaughter, Kathleen.
Survived by his wife, Gladys Schafer; daughter, Esther Schroeder; son, Todd (Karen) Schafer; grandchildren, Karen (David) Burns, Jason (Alison) Tuff, Kimberly Schroeder, Kristina (William) Freiberg, Scott (Karen) Schroeder, Jessica (Christopher) Willis, Jacqueline (Alexander) Gagne, Jillian Schafer; great-grandchildren Breanna, Caleb (Brittany), Joshua, Ashley, Tom (Brianna), Karah, Nick, AJ, Andrew, Alisa, Joshua, Jasea, William, Easton, Rylan, Ryan, Lauren, Nora; and 4 great great-grandchildren.
As the family celebrates his life in their hearts, an in-person celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fairport Baptist Home, 4646 Fairport Nine Mile Point Rd, Fairport NY 14450.
