Greece: November 8th, 2016 at age 89.
Predeceased by his parents Herman and Helene Mueller, great granddaughter Claire Avery Thomas and nephew Kenneth Vosburgh.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years Mildred Mueller; his children, Kurt (Sharon) Mueller, Karl (Denise) Mueller, Karol (Dean) Thomas and Kraig (Carolyn) Mueller. Grandchildren, Ben, Sarah, Mari, Cass, Meghan, Erik, Mark, Elizabeth, Michael and Shauna. Great grandchildren, Kaylin, Kai, Brayden, Gabe, Lily, Jayce, Quinn, Gage, Sadie, Whitney, Chase, and Jackson. Sisters, Marilyn Wischmeyer and Betty Vosburgh, and beloved nieces and nephews.
Herman's life's was one of service and family. Herman's service in the US Army until 1954 serving in the Philippines, Japan and finally Alaska, attaining the rank of SGT 1st Class.
After discharge, Herman moved his growing family back to Rochester where he started a successful career at Eastman Kodak, retiring after over 30 years.
Herman's life long volunteer service included being a member of the St. Paul Volunteer Fire Department through the 1960's and 1970's attaining the rank of Battalion Chief until 1974.
Herman was an avid skier taking his family out skiing every weekend possible and later traveling with his wife Mildred to Western and Canadian resorts. Bristol Mountain was his favorite local mountain where you could see him several times a week post retirement skiing with the "Old Fogies".
Herman had a passion for jazz, played the piano, and was the pianist for the Alaskan Jumpster during his service in Alaska and the Chet Turner Orchestra in Rochester.
He followed the tradition of his father at Christmas time playing Christmas Carols with the family singing along.
Post retirement, Herman took up wood carving and had a nice collection of carved birds. Herman also loved swimming and had pools at each of his houses. 61 Rock Beach was the favorite hangout for family during the summer months where you would hear "Poppa Poppa, watch me" from the grandchildren enjoying the water.
An amazing aspect of Herm's love was towards grandchildren and great grand children. The memories made are FOREVER.
He and Mildred enjoyed an active life post retirement, traveling to the Southwest, Georgia, Hawaii and New Zealand to visit friends and family. Herm served as President of the Lake Shore Condominium Association. Day trips include trips to Turning Stone, Finger Lakes and Batavia Downs.
Family will receive friends Friday from 4pm to 6pm at New Comer Funeral Home 2636 Ridgeway Ave, where the family will share memories at 6pm.
