It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our beloved mother, Ione Marie Newman on Saturday, October 21, 2023. She was 95 years old. Born on August 11, 1928, her life was full of much joy and laughter from the loved ones that she leaves behind.
Survived by her sister: Veronica Ward; Children: Diane (James) Long; Michael (Debbie) Newman; Nancy Newman; Kathi (Tim) Gunio; grandchildren Lindsay (Robert) Rinefierd; Erin (Brandon) Long Luce; Tracy (Kris) Booth; Mathew Gunio; Kelly (Dan) Horowitz; Stephanie (Rob) Newman; Scott (Kristin) Newman; Betsy (Ryan) Andrew; Heidi (Ivo) Margic; eleven great-grandchildren; nieces, nephew; and several family friends and neighbors who will treasure their memories of her always.
Friends may call 4-6:30 pm Friday October 27, 2023 at New Comer Cremations and Funerals, 2636 Ridgeway Ave. (west of Long Pond Rd.)
On Saturday morning, friends may meet at the Lake Ave gate of Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 2461 Lake Ave, Rochester, NY 14612 by 9:15 am for her graveside committal service at Queen of Heaven Shrine beginning at 9:30 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to St. Ann's Special Care Unit (1st floor) in memory of Ione.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the wonderful, caring staff of the Special Care Unit (1st Floor) at St. Ann's who began to love our mother as much as we do.
