Iris Valencia Hernandez

Passed away on October 17, 2021.

Born August 11, 1932, in New York City, to Ramona Reyes Valencia and John Valencia, Iris was a Godly woman, who devoted her life to serving God and her family, always seeing life through the lens of Christ. Married to Luis Angel Hernandez for 40 plus years, a devout man of God, they nurtured 7 children Luis Daniel, Abraham, Iris, Frankie, James, Nancy, and Gladys. Being a devout wife, rearing 7 children and nurturing 19 grandchildren did not come with a manual nor was it easy, but she understood that it was only through God's strength and grace that she would dedicate her life to God, her husband, and children. She modeled forgiveness and loved unconditionally. Iris was grandmother to: Abraham Daniel, Marisol, Diana Marie, Christina, Nathanael, Emmanuel, Michelle, Lisa, Samuel, Derek, Melissa, Jacqueline, Frankie, Jovani, Ivanna, Gabriela, and Christina R.

Iris was preceded in death by her husband, Luis Angel Hernandez, her parents, Ramona Reyes Valencia, and John Valencia; brothers: Jerry, Alex, Abraham, Frankie, and sisters: Gladys, and Lillian. She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved siblings: John and Jenny, her 7 children and their spouses, 18 grandchildren and their spouses; 33 great-grandchildren, and a host of other loving relatives.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, Oct 29th, 2021 from 4pm – 7pm at Newcomer Cremations & Funerals, 6 Empire Boulevard, Rochester NY

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 10 am at Light of the World Church, 200 Child Street, Rochester NY with a burial at Riverside Cemetery, 2650 Lake Ave., Rochester NY
