Jack G. Fargo

May 14, 1953 — March 28, 2023

Jack Griffith Fargo of Houston, TX, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at the age of 69.

He was born on May 14, 1953 in Framingham, Massachusetts, as the first-born fraternal twin to sister Janet Ellen Fargo. He was the only boy to parents Charles and Jane Fargo, which included his older sister Marjorie, twin sister Janet, and younger sister Peggy.

In 1957, the family moved south to Atlanta GA where his mother grew up and maternal grandparents lived. Jack graduated from Druid Hills High School, Decatur, GA, Class of 1971. As a child, Jack loved hiking, playing baseball, swimming, music, playing guitar and taking care of his pet hamster & dog, Charley.

He first got married in July of 1972 in Dallas, TX and started a family of 4 children. He later remarried in Dobbs Ferry, New York on November 20, 1992 and raised his then wife's younger daughter Maria, who was 8 years old at the time, as his own. They later moved from New York to Texas in 1993.

He mainly worked in the tech industry his adult Life and ultimately as the IT manager in Houston for Midway Importing, a company servicing 44 states distributing health & beauty products from Houston and Los Angeles. He loved all of his colleagues and looked forward to working with them. He considered them, in addition to his brothers and sisters from his Church, as part of his family. He was surrounded by the most understanding, kind, and helpful group of people he could have ever imagined.

He is a devoted and actively involved Christian who was a part of the Mens' Ministry at Christ Church Baptist Fellowship in Houston, TX. He enjoyed his weekends on Sundays with his fellow Church members led by Pastor Dr. Pope and his Mens' Ministry group led by Mr. David Burkholder. At other times he would join his daughter Maria and grandson Conner at Houston's First Baptist. His other hobbies included being at the shooting range and spending time with family or the family dog Stitch. He was a proud member of the NRA and TSRA, effectively defending our Second Amendment Rights. He loved his guns and had quite the collection. During his last year when he could no longer attend Church services, he religiously watched his daily morning sermons as he ate his breakfast. Church and breakfast are what got his day going every morning! During what came to be his final few months, he moved to Rochester, NY where his son Bishop (also known as John) and daughter Spring were able to care for him full time.

He is predeceased by his parents, Charles and Jane Fargo; and sister Janet Fargo.
