Rochester: Died peacefully Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at age 81 surrounded by his loving family. He is predeceased by his wives, LaVerne Barkley and Wendy Barkley; son, Elliott James Barkley; daughters, Ruby Lee Barkley, Dianne Barkley; daughter-in-law, Betty Siplin Barkley; son-in-law, Carlos Diaz. He is survived by his sons, Willie J. Barkley, Leslie J. Barkley, James Barkley Jr., Michael Barkley, Mark Gaines, Pe¬ter J. Barkley III; daughters, Betty (Terry) Maclennan, Traycee (Richard) Timian, Michelle Diaz, Mary (Sherman) Barkley-Lagroon; 30 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. James was a United States Army Veteran serving during WWII and a member of the Chili Country Club.
The family will receive friends Saturday, October 16th from 10 AM to 12 Noon at the New Comer Funeral Home, 6 Empire Blvd. where Service will immediately follow calling hours at Noon. Private interment. Memorials contributions may be directed to James' family.
