October 27, 2020 age 78 after a long 8 year battle with Alzheimer's, Jim has been reunited with his daughter Lisa. Predeceased by daughter Lisa, parents Lynn and Barbara and brother Brian. Survived by wife of 56 years Geraldine "Gerry", daughters Linda (Joe Nelson) and Laurie, "best buddy" grandson Brent Anderson, bonus grandchildren Tyler (and family) and Paige Nelson, extended family, friends and neighbors.
Jim worked in the HVAC trade for 38 years before retiring 21 years ago. He was a very proud member of Sheet Metal Workers Local 46 Union for 59 years.
Jim enjoyed camping, boating, NASCAR races and tinkering in his barn. He especially loved his time with Brent and Penfield's Boy Scout Troop 9. He accompanied his best buddy to weekly meetings and on trips to Camp Cutler and Massawepie.
Special thank you to Penfield Place Skilled Nursing Facility's staff for their wonderful care for the 22 months Jim resided there and to URMC Hospice Care for their support to our family when Jim came home for his final week.
To his primary caregiver, Charna Kay, words cannot express the depth of our gratitude for your devotion to Jim's care the 22 months he was with you. You treated him as your own family member and it showed. The 7 months we could only see him through a window, not being able to touch him and him not being able to hear us, knowing you were caring for him gave us such reassurance during an extremely hard time. You are indelibly imprinted in our hearts.
There were no calling hours and interment was private.
In lieu of flowers or charitable donations, we ask that you continue Jim's legacy of kindness, smile at a stranger, call a friend you haven't spoken to in a while, check in on a neighbor, help someone who may be struggling. Small kind gestures are the best remembrance of Jim.
