Wednesday, April 4, 2007. Predeceased by his son, Reginald Jason Simmons and wife, Delores Simmons. He is survived by Renee Lucas; children, Saundra Frierson of Asheville, NC and Beverly Frierson, Randy (Stephanie) Simmons of Columbus, OH, Jacqueline (Tim) Turner, Jeanie, Joyce (Dan), Judy, Jerrold, Jada and Javis (Candice) Lucas; and a host of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; sisters, Vern Allen of Baltimore, MD and Mary (Jimmy) Kennedy of Charlotte, NC; brothers, Frank Samuel Sumter, SC, Harold (Maxine) Simmons and James Simmons II; many nieces/nephews;special friends, OB and Theresa Chapman.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Rochester General Hospital Dialysis Unit for all the special care given to James.
Family and friends may call Sunday, April 8th, 6-8 P.M. at the New Comer Family Funeral Home, 2636 Ridgeway Ave. His Funeral Service will be held Monday at 11 A.M. Church of God By Faith, 230 Adams St. Interment, Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Kidney Foundation in his memory.
