Rochester, NY - Janet Moffat Young, 95 passed away November 5,2023 at The Brightonian Nursing Home. She was born in Forth, Lanarkshire Scotland on March 16, 1928, the daughter of the late John Paton Moffat and Rebecca (Loudon) Moffat of Scotland.
Janet's voyage to the United States began in May of 1954 aboard the Queen Elizabeth (Southampton England to New York). She was first employed as a Nanny to the Joseph Harris Family in Rochester. She became a U.S. Citizen on June 28, 1960.
Janet was an active member of the Brighton Recreation Senior program, Monroe County Election Inspector for over 25 years and member of Third Presbyterian Church for 65 years.
Janet was preceded in death by her husband Ansel G. Young and son Robert Young.
She is survived by her daughter Rebecca (Young) Payne and Jeffrey A. Payne of Dallastown, PA; grandchildren; Christine Payne Morrisson of York, PA and Stephen M. and Krystina (Burke) Payne of Allentown, PA; great grandchildren; Alexandra and Owen Morrisson of York, PA; Arthur Payne of Allentown PA.
