Jeffrey (Jeff) Arnold McNamara passed away unexpectedly at his residence in Rochester, NY. He was only 60 years young. His family is deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden death. Jeff was the beloved son of the late Robert and Judith (Fusco) McNamara. He is survived by his sisters, Rhonda (Dave) Leisenring, Susan (Tom) Dunn, Lynne Riley, Paula (Bob) Tyma; half siblings Kerry and Blaine McNamara and their mother Maureen (Doyle) McNamara; his aunt Jacqueline (Bob) Grainger along with many cousins. He is predeceased by his grandparents William and Elizabeth (Smith) McNamara, John Fusco, and Marie Rosalyn (Holder) (Fusco) Allen. He is also predeceased by his aunt and uncle; Mary Ann Finnegan and Johnny Fusco.
His memory lives on with his nieces and nephews; Tim Dunn, Tom Dunn, Lisa McNamara, Judy Holland, Zachary Tyma, Alyssa Riley, Leah (Bryan) Hanley, Chelsea (Torrey) Brown, Matthew (Becky) Tyma, Nick Leisenring, Heather Leisenring, Nathan Leisenring, Gabriella Tyma, Casey Ross, Kelsey Ross, and many great nieces and nephews, as well as his former brother-in-law Thomas P. Riley, Jr.
Jeff was born on September 27, 1964 in Rochester, NY. Jeffrey moved with his family to Newton, NJ and lived there for ten years. He returned to NY, living in Clifton Springs for three years and ultimately moved to the beloved 10th Ward in Rochester, NY where he remained for most of his adult life.
As a curious young boy, Jeff often took phones apart to see how they were assembled. This developed into a passion for, and career in, telecommunications. While employed by Global Crossings in Newark, NJ, Jeff spent two weeks taking the subway to the World Trade Center to meet with clients. Fortunately, that effort wrapped up early on Friday, September 8, 2001. The following week Jeffrey returned to the site, which became Ground Zero, to help restore communications. These events had a profound impact on him, as they did the entire world. After three months, he returned to his hometown to be with family.
Jeff was very proud of his Irish heritage, as he revered “In Irish cheer for we are so blessed to be Irish :)”.
He was the creator, and frequent contributor, of The McNamara Clan online group, connecting to McNamara’s everywhere.
“Greetings McNamara's and friends,
It is our fortitude to be here today to honor our ancestors, like no other time in history we have the opportunity unite McNamara's around the world.
I created this group in 2011 for everyone who is a McNamara to be a welcome member, honor, learn about, share, celebrate and enjoy our ancient Irish heritage, no matter who they are, where they are or what they believe, that is our agenda nothing more, nothing less.
There are plenty of problems with this world, which is nothing new throughout human history, we can't solve the world’s problems, it’s not the place for it.
The McNamara Clan, like all Irish clans, is sacred. There are times in history when the only thing a McNamara, and many Irish, had was their family, the clothes on his or her back, a song on their lips and the grace of God in their hearts. Yet we are here today to honor them and give thanks.
The McNamara Clan is for everyone, it’s here for you.
May the Grace of God be with you always...”
Jeff, may the Grace of God be with you always, as well.
