Joachim E. Brauch, by grace through faith in Jesus, entered the Lord’s presence on March 20, 2025, in Greece, NY, at the age of 82. Born on July 7, 1942, Achim and his family emigrated from Bavaria, Germany in 1953 to make their home in Rochester, NY. His family fostered in him a deep faith, love of music and singing, strong work ethic, and living a life of service.
Achim honed his soccer skills as a youth, earning his place as a starter all four years at Edison Tech. The three Brauch brothers helped the team win as City Champions in 1957. Achim used his vocal talents as a member of the school’s Glee Club and Tech Singers as well as singing in the Andrews Street Baptist Church choir where the family attended.
It was at the Andrews Street church where Achim met his sweetheart, Sue, when her father came to pastor there and later began the Latta Road Baptist Church. The couple married in 1970 and raised four children together. Achim worked hard to care for his family while dedicating 27 years to Kodak before retiring and starting his own house painting business. He skillfully maintained his home and yard, delighting in any work done with his hands. Music flowed throughout the house as he often played piano and sang. Achim taught his children about the Lord and was an active member of LRBC for decades, serving as a deacon who visited many members in nursing homes and hospitals, singing in choir and for many occasions, playing piano at senior gatherings, serving at church activities, and writing countless letters of encouragement to others.
Achim loved his family deeply and found immense joy in spending time together. Whether playing games, driving to the lake, going out for ice cream, creating a grandkids’ playroom, attending concerts and games, or providing transportation, he and Sue relished every opportunity to be with their grandchildren. Achim was always up for a game of chess and was seldom checkmated. Photography, watercolor and oil painting, traveling, and gardening with Sue were some of Achim’s other hobbies. His kindness, gentleness, compassion, humor, beautiful singing voice, and unconditional love touched the lives of all who knew him.
Preceding him in death were his beloved wife of 55 years, Susann (Sue) Brauch; parents, Friedrich and Frieda Brauch; sister, Christa Perea, and infant brother, Hans Dieter. Achim is survived by his children, Matthew (Jessica) Brauch, Karalyn (Peter) Fagan, Tricia (Andrew) Forsythe, and Tamara (Leo) Brauch; grandchildren, Chelsea, Lana, Brianna, Kaila, Ryon, Sabrina, Aurianna, and Allyria; sister, Ruthild Wade; brothers, Sigbert Brauch and Manfred Brauch; many dear nieces and nephews.
A time for gathering together to celebrate Achim’s life will take place on a later date at the family’s convenience.
