Joan Rose (Ward) Tschetter

August 19, 1928 — May 3, 2020

8/19/1928-5/3/2020 Died from natural causes peacefully.

Joan was known for being positive, great sense of humor, beautiful smile, twinkling blue eyes, warm heart and her sweet gentle nature. A woman of quiet faith, strength and dignity and unconditional love. She had the knack of knowing what to say to soften life blows.

Joan was predeceased by her parents, Peter & Catherine Ward; husband, Edwin "Bud," ; her daughters, Nancy Ortman & Mary Bachman; sisters, Frances Harper, Catherine Brayer & Ann Marie Rhodes, brothers Leo Ward, Vincent Ward, & Lawrence "Pat" Ward; grandson, Kurt Tschetter.

She is survived by sons, Edwin Jr. (Christine) & William, daughter, Lynn (Chris) Ingraham; grandchildren, Eric, Carrie (Mike), & Kristen (Denny) Maines; great grandchildren, Billy, Jonathan, Alexander, Brendan, Ellie, Liam, Griffin, Stella; cousin, Eleanor Maguire Diamond & numerous nieces and nephews.

Joan and Bud met at an early age at a ice skating party and Joan immediately took Bud under her wing and taught him how to properly lace up his ice skates. That encounter turned into a loving marriage of 61 years.

We wish to thank the staff at St. Ann's SCU and Lifetime Care Hospice for their unwavering care and support of Joan. They are the smiling caring people that loved mom daily and she came to recognize and rely on each day and we are forever grateful. As they would exclaim to Joan "Everything is better with Tschetter!" Please consider a donation to Alzheimer's Association of Greater Rochester at www.alz.org

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
