It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of JoAnne J. Derosia, who left us on March 17, 2025, at the age of 62. Born on June 14, 1962, JoAnne lived a life that was rich in love, creativity, and kindness, deeply impacting all those who had the privilege to know her.
JoAnne was a woman of many interests and passions that reflected her vibrant spirit. Her love for antiques spoke of a profound appreciation for history, while her talent in landscaping and photography found beauty in the world around her. She had a particular fondness for capturing the charm of covered bridges, often immersing herself in nature’s tranquility. A trip to Letchworth State Park for camping was always a highlight, and she cherished the moments spent there, surrounded by the beauty of the great outdoors.
Her home was a canvas for her decorating skills, filled with warmth and personality, showcasing her artistic flair through beloved Thomas Kinkade artwork. JoAnne adored baking, delighting family and friends with her signature pancakes, and she could often be found preparing meals with love for those around her.
JoAnne was a woman of remarkable spirit, characterized by her love for storytelling and the vivid worlds brought to life in western movies and shows. Among her favorites, "True Grit" held a special place in her heart, embodying the grit and determination that mirrored her own tenacity in life.
JoAnne found joy in the charming tales spun within "Anne of Green Gables," where the imagination and resilience of Anne Shirley resonated deeply with her own experiences. Her fondness for these stories was emblematic of her ability to see beauty in the world around her, transforming everyday moments into treasured memories.
Nothing brought JoAnne more joy than taking care of and caring for people. Her nurturing spirit made a profound difference in the lives of many, embodying compassion and generosity. She had a special fondness for hummingbirds and elephants, symbols of grace and strength that resonated with her character.
As we remember JoAnne, we reflect on a life that was truly well-lived, full of joy, laughter, and a deep love for those she held dear. Her presence will forever be missed, but her legacy of kindness and warmth will live on in the hearts of those she touched. Rest in peace, dear JoAnne. You will always be cherished and remembered.

She is survived by her son, Gene (Angela Pitoni) Nichols; mother, Joyce Watkins; siblings, Stan (Mindy) Watkins, Paul (Kara) Watkins, Mary Schultz, Joyce (Pier) Maselli, David (Jeanne) Watkins; brother-in-law, Michael Schultz; sister-in-law Eveline J. Derosia; many nieces and nephews. JoAnne had a special connection with her nieces, Amy (Shawn) Emens, Kaelyn Ruth, Juliana Ruth, Olivia Schultz and nephew, Tyler Emens; her best friend of 30 years, Lori Burlingham.
JoAnne's Funeral Service will be held Saturday, March 29th at 10AM at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 2636 Ridgeway Avenue. Interment to immediately follow at Parma Union Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association Rochester & Finger Lakes Region Chapter in JoAnne's memory.
