Rochester: Died peacefully Monday, July 13, 2009 at age 76. He was predeceased by his son, David. Survived by his loving and caring daughter, Sheryl (Glenn) Barnum of Hampstead, NC; wife, Helen (Jean) Costa; brother, Louis (Sally) Costa; grandsons, Michael of NC and Glenn Barnum Jr. of MA.; granddaughter, Amanda Barnum of NC; great-granddaughter, Sierra; cousin, Joseph Costa; several nieces and nephews and many good friends; especially Bob Brownyard, Jim O'Connell and Jim and Christine Doyle. John was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Korean War and owner of Freemessers Restaurant for many years.
There will be no prior calling hours. Memorial Service will be celebrated Friday at 11 A.M. at New Comer Funeral Home, 6 Empire Blvd. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
