John "Mike" Ellsworth
November 12, 1951 — May 10, 2023
John Michael Ellsworth, age 71, passed away on May 10, 2023 in home hospice after a long battle with cancer.
Mike was born in Cooperstown, NY, grew up in Richfield Springs, NY, and attended the University of Rochester where he was an active member of Theta Delta Chi fraternity and a member of the University "Yellowjackets", the all-male a capella singing group. He was a Navy ROTC student at Rochester and after graduation went on to serve as a Captain in the US Marine Corps. Following his discharge, he eventually started his own small business (Benestats, later HR Communications) providing employee benefit communications services for small and medium sized companies; and at which he worked most of his career.
Mike loved the simple joys of family, friends, pets, and nature; and his crazy wit could always make you laugh.
Mike was predeceased by his parents, Warren Ellsworth and Elizabeth (Pusey) Ellsworth.
He is survived by his much loved wife, Inessa (Kovtun) Ellsworth; stepdaughter, Vlada Belozerova; his two sisters, Shirley Morgan and Marjorie Brown; three nieces and six nephews.
Per Mike's request, funeral arrangements are private. A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
