He is survived by his adoring wife, Lesley Simmons; his children, Adrienne, Christine, John (Sarah) and Nicole Sauter; parents, Frank and Mary Simmons; brother, William (Roberta) Simmons; sisters, Mary Ann (Fred) Atzrott, Ann Marie (Jim) Johnston, Gloria (Scott) Gerken; nephews, Christopher (Canden) Simmons, Justin Johnston, Jonathan Gerken, Ryan Gerken; grand-nephew, Elijah Simmons; nieces, Jennifer (Stefan) Wegorzewski, Kimberly Atzrott, Allison Atzrott, Sarah Gerken; aunts and uncles, Robert (Patricia) Menz, Frank (Georgianne) Menz, Gerald (Elsie) Menz, Betty Kruppenbacher; mother-in-law, Shirley (George Benn) Edwards; sisters-in-law, Sally (Geoff) Pulsifer, Annette (Scott) Cohen and their children. John attended St. Ambrose School and graduated from Aquinas Institute in 1974. He achieved the level of Eagle Scout in 1973 and later attended Monroe Community College. He was the owner of Ridge Culver Hardware and Dales Maplewood Hardware in the 80's and early 90's. He was a successful self employed Master Carpenter, working almost exclusively for Arrow Kitchens for 12 years. Within the last 10 years he single handedly built his family home and farm in Bloomfield, NY.

The family will receive friends Sunday, September 26th from 3-7 PM at the New Comer Funeral Home, 6 Empire Blvd. John's Funeral Mass will be celebrated Mon¬day at 11 AM at Peace of Christ Parish at St. Ambrose Church, 25 Empire Blvd. Private Interment. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society 1120 Goodman Street South, Rochester, New York 14620 or to the Humane Society at Lollypop Farm 99 Victor Road, Fairport, New York 14450.
