Sunday, November 14, 2010 at age 78 after a courageous battle with cancer and heart disease. Predeceased by his parents, John and Mary Streber and granddaughter, Savannah Streber.
Survived by loving companion of many years, Jean M. Hill; his sons, John (Dave Calver) Streber of CA and David M. Streber; daughter, Debra (Ed) Twilliger of Rochester; and their mother, Patricia Streber and her friend, Betty Brizzee. Also survived by Jean's daughter, Rene (John) Gabriel of Syracuse, NY and son, Kevin (Rima) Rhodey of AZ; his siblings: sister, RoseMarie (Al) Essig of TX; brothers, Robert (Loretta) Streber, Lawrence (Barbara) Streber and Richard Streber, all of Rochester. Will be missed by grandchildren, Dana, David, Nicole, Kelly, Michael, Alex, Tyler, Jeffrey, Crystal and Sami; loved by many nieces, nephews, cousins; and Aunt Laura, Uncle Ange, Aunt Annie, Aunt Edith and many many friends.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Timothy Woodlock and all his special staff at Unity Health Oncology Dept at St. Mary's, VA of Batavia, Home Based Care and Home Care Hospice.
No prior calling hours. Family and friends are invited to celebrate his Memorial Mass, Saturday November 20th, 11 AM at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 296 Flower City Park. Private interment. A reception will follow the Mass where the family will greet friends in the Church Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Unity Health Oncology at St. Mary's, 1555 Long Pond Road, Rochester, NY 14626 or Golisano Children's Hospital at Strong, 601 Elmwood Avenue, Rochester, NY 14642 in John's memory.
