Greece: Saturday, May 3, 2008 at age 52. Predeceased by his father, Gaetano Maira. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Lorraine; daughters, Nancy (Damien) Abbondanzieri, Michelle (Michael Thomas) Maira; mother, Kathryn Maira; granddaughters, Vanessa Thomas and Alena Abbondanzieri; sisters, Sue (Roger) Welch, Kathy (Michael) Phelan, Lisa (Frank) Schramm, Karen (Kevin) Hoppenbauer; brothers, Mike (Beth) and Tom (Jan D'Angelo) Maira; many other family members and friends.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at The Hurlbut Nursing Home for the loving care and compassion given to John.
No prior calling hours. Family and friends are invited to celebrate his Memorial Service Tuesday May 6th at 6:30 PM at the New Comer Funeral Home, 2636 Ridgeway Ave. Private interment. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the National MS Society Upstate New York Chapter, 1650 South Ave., Suite 100, Rochester, NY 14620 in John's memory.
