John A. Markham, born on November 22, 1952, left this world on January 12, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter and cherished memories. Known affectionately as "Paca" to his granddaughters, John was not only a beloved family member but also a friend to many who encountered his warm spirit and humor. He had a special talent for telling "Dad" jokes, and he took great joy in making his family smile and laugh, always striving to ensure their happiness above all else.
John's life was marked by a number of passions. He found joy in visiting Niagara Falls and had a deep love for the music of the 60s and 70s, particularly the works of Elvis and The Beatles. He pursued these interests with enthusiasm, sharing them with those around him.
In addition to his personal joys, John was deeply committed to his community, serving as a volunteer firefighter for 20 years. This selfless dedication stands as a testament to his character, showcasing his willingness to lend a helping hand and serve those around him.
John is survived by his children, Kelly (Brandon Case) Bell and Eric (Meghan Trexler) Markham. He also leaves behind his beloved granddaughters, Jaina Bell and Paige Markham. The warmth of his presence will be missed by his siblings, Robert (Barb) Markham, Roy Markham, Howard (Karen) Markham, Alta (Chuck) Morin, and Doris Behan, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He is predeceased by his wife, Esther, as well as his parents, Harold and Shirley. John also mourned the loss of his siblings, David, William, Harold Jr., Paul, Beverly, Roni, and Shirley.
John's family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses in the CVICU Unit at Strong Memorial Hospital for their compassionate care and tireless effort.
A visitation in honor of John A. Markham will be held on January 23, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at New Comer Funeral Home, Westside, located at 2636 Ridgeway Ave, Rochester, NY 14626. His family invites all who knew him to gather as they celebrate the life of a remarkable man who truly lived to bring joy to others.
