John M. Randall

July 8, 1936 — December 22, 2024

John M. Randall December 22, 2024

We are sad to report that John Monroe Randall of Webster, NY and Sun City, AZ has passed away in Rochester after a brief illness at the age of 88.

He is survived by his two children, Mike Randall and Lynne Ellis, Lynne’s husband Mark Ellis and grandchildren, Kathi DeGennaro, Kelli DeGennaro, Anthony DeGennaro, Joseph DeGennaro, and Tyler Ellis, ( 6 great grandchildren Gavin, Gia, Gemma, Grey, Mason and Colton) who all live in the Rochester area.

John was predeceased by Corey Randall, the mother of his children, and by his second wife, Sharon Randall. He is also survived by brother, David Randall of Northport, ME, David’s wife Susan Conard and their son, Alan Randall.

John was born in 1936 in Westchester Co, NY. His father worked for the railroad, and he and Dave lived in many towns in northern New York state as they were growing up. John graduated from Clarkson College in Potsdam, NY in 1958 with a degree in electrical engineering and later while working at Xerox he received his masters degree at RIT in Rochester, NY.

John went on to work at Bausch and Lomb and then at Xerox until his retirement. In his later years John and Sharon lived in Webster, and spent many winters away from the snow in Arizona. John was for many years an avid golfer and amateur radio aficionado.

After Sharon’s passing in 2022, he moved back permanently to Webster, where he enjoyed the company of other seniors at the Webster Parks and Recreation lunch club, took daily walks, got to know his grandchildren and great-grandchildren better, visited with family and friends, and spent much of his free time reading, or on the computer doing family genealogy.

Although he had been battling cancer for many years, his death came too soon, and he will be sorely missed by his family.
