Predeceased by his son, Richard Sterling.
Survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Marilyn Sterling. Daughters, Jeanne (Michael) Brannan, Diane (Douglas) Phillips, Daughter in law, Christa Sterling. Grandchildren, Cameron, Nicole, Derek, Matthew, Michelle, Drake and Sterling. Great grandchildren, Danadi, Triton, Chevelle, Colton, Gage, Leo "LJ", Amelia. Sister, Regina Yarker. Nephews, Dale, Frank and Charles Yarker. Many dear friends.
John was a retired Tax Assessor for The Town of Greece, an exempt member of the Greece Ridge Fire Dept. A proud Veteran of The US Marine Corp.
Following retirement at the Town of Greece, John worked at Lakeshore Country Club. He was an avid golfer. John will be sadly missed by many.
Family will receive friends 4-6pm Monday August 12, 2024 at New Comer Cremations and Funerals, 2636 Ridgeway Ave. On Tuesday morning, friends may assemble at Saint Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, 1000 N Greece Rd, Rochester, NY at 9:30am for his mass of Christian burial.14626. Entombment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, All Saints Mausoleum.
