Judith Anderson Schuhmann, affectionately known as Judy, passed away on December 8, 2024, in Rochester, NY, at the age of 89. Born on June 13, 1935, in Rochester, she was a bright light in the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Judy’s education began at Monroe High School, where she developed her love for singing, a passion that would stay with her throughout her life. She later attended the Rochester Institute of Technology, further expanding her knowledge and skills.
Throughout her career, Judy dedicated herself to her community. She worked in various roles at the Clifton Springs Hospital and Clinic, demonstrating compassion and commitment to her patients and colleagues. Her volunteer work at the Clifton Springs Historical Society’s Foster Cottage Museum revealed her deep appreciation for history and her desire to enrich the lives of others.
An active member of the Clifton Springs Baptist Church, Judy thrived in her church community, where her generosity of spirit and dedication shone brightly. Summers spent at the cottage on the St. Lawrence River with her family brought her immense joy, providing cherished memories and fostering bonds that would last a lifetime.
Judy leaves behind her daughters, Ann Schuhmann, Laura (Gary) Johnson, Diane (John) Ralston, and Kathryn (Todd) Schell; her beloved grandchildren, Elizabeth (Justin) Schell, William (Gina) Schell, Benjamin Ralston, and Maggie Ralston; her dear sister, Ann Hoener; her best friend, Phyllis Bergh; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends, all of whom will miss her warmth, kindness, and infectious laugh.
Judy was predeceased by her husband, Harold L. Schuhmann; her parents, Einar and Lois Anderson; and her brother, Gillette Anderson. Their memory remains a cherished part of her legacy.
As we remember Judy, we celebrate the many lives she touched and the love she shared with her family and community. Her spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
