Kenneth Ray Whitney, known affectionately as Ken, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2024, in Rochester, NY, at the age of 90. Born on April 2, 1934, in Rochester, NY, Ken dedicated 21 years of service to the United States Air Force, retiring as a Master Sergeant. His military career spanned from 1951 to 1972, where he specialized as a water treatment technician. Following his military service, Ken continued his career with 20 years of service to his community working at the Monroe County Water Authority until his retirement in 1993.

Ken was a devout 42 -year member of Holy Name of Jesus Church until its closure in 2014 and then joined the St. Charles Borromeo Church family, reflecting his deep faith and commitment to his community. He was a 4th Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus, Council #3892, Our Lady of the Cenacle and was also a valued member of the American Legion Greece Post 468. His life was marked by a profound love for his country and his family. Ken leaves behind a legacy of patriotism and family devotion.

He is survived by his loving wife, Theresa Côté Whitney; his son, Kenny Whitney; his brother Dick Redder (Penny) and sister Neta Seever. Ken was a proud grandfather to Janice Whitney, Jason (Renee) Whitney, and Courtney (Matthew) Michienzi, and he was blessed with 13 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Ken was especially fond of his niece Lori (Rich) Brice. He also leaves behind numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and other relatives who will miss him dearly. He was predeceased by his parents, Dewey and Veda Whitney; siblings Marilyn (Kenneth) DeMent, Donald (Joan) Whitney, Walter (Mary) Whitney, Robert Whitney, William Whitney, George (Linda) Whitney; and granddaughter, Joy Whitney.

 Ken enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, including Manhattans and cigars in his earlier years and a lifelong love for sweets, especially ice cream. His personal life was filled with joy derived from camping and spending quality time around campfires with his beloved wife of 69 years, Theresa, and various family members.

 Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 PM on Friday, August 23rd, at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 2636 Ridgeway Ave, Rochester, NY 14626. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in his honor at 10:30 AM on Saturday, August 24th, at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 303 Dewey Ave. (corner of Maiden Lane). Assemble at church please. Entombment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, All Saints Mausoleum.

 In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Saint Charles Borromeo Church in his memory. Ken's commitment to his family, country, and community will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
