Laura May Woodin (Holley)

January 24, 1935 — July 27, 2020

Laura May (Holley) Woodin, 85,

Rochester, NY. January 24th, 1935-July 27th, 2020. Passed peacefully at the Rochester Presbyterian Home in the early hours of July 27th. Predeceased by her beloved husband of 50 years, Arthur Reid Woodin. Survived by her daughters: Lori Anne Woodin-Atallah and Barbara (Michael) Baldwin; step-children: Jeffrey (Beverly) Woodin and Elizabeth Mitchell; grandchildren: Thomas Mitchell, Justin Woodin, Candice (John) Siciliano, Brian (Jayme) Woodin, Sarah Woodin, Eric (Deidra) Woodin, and Ryan Baldwin; her brothers: Raymond Holley and Franklin (Misako) Holley, her loyal cat, Tiger, and so many cherished great-grandchildren, friends, and family whom she loved deeply.

Laura was the youngest daughter in a family of 12, born to the late Fred and Margaret Holley. She was a graduate of Old East High School and worked for Woolworth's and Kodak before retiring with her husband, Arthur, in Penfield, NY.

Laura loved children and animals, Elvis and JFK, and she enjoyed music, dancing, family get-togethers, watching sporting events (particularly tennis and baseball), and spending time with her loved ones.

In her golden years, she avidly researched her family genealogy and diligently orchestrated family reunions with her siblings and extended family members. She was outspoken and fiercely protective of her loved ones, but will always be remembered for her twinkling blue eyes and mischievous, child-like smile. She could be stern, but sweet, and always looked out for, and cared for others before herself.

In her sunset years, she was joyful and spirited, and revelled in the time she spent with family or on community outings with her friends at the Rochester Presbyterian Home. Laura was proud of all of her grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and was always boasting about their accomplishments or churning with excitement whenever a new child joined the extended family.

Laura will be laid to rest beside her husband, Arthur, in a private ceremony at the Oakwood Cemetery Mausoleum in Penfield, NY on Thursday, July 30th, with a more expansive celebration of life to take place at a later date.
