Lauren Haas

September 30, 1947 — September 10, 2022

Lauren Maurer Haas, 74 of Rochester, NY, passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side on September 10th after a long final battle with Covid.

Lauren was born to loving and proud parents, Elaine Skiff Maurer and Edward Lawrence Maurer Jr. on September 30, 1947 in Syracuse, NY. Before beginning school her family moved to Whitesboro, NY. She attended Whitesboro High School, graduating in 1966. At age nineteen she married Bradley Clark of Clinton, NY and was sadly widowed in the same year. This loss deeply affected her. In 1972 she went on to marry Roger Haas of Utica, NY. The two celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past May. In 1976 they gave birth to triplets, Abigail (Haas) Hodge, Marshall Haas and Emily (Haas) Mischler. Having a family of her own allowed her to love and be loved. She deeply loved her children. She felt tremendous pride being a mother to triplets. She was a long time member of the Greater Rochester Mother of Twins Club where she found encouragement from other mothers of multiples and once her children were grown she, in return, became a great support to new mothers who joined the club. She also, thoroughly enjoyed being a long time nanny to several Rochester area families.

After raising her family in the Fairport-Perinton area, she and her husband made West Irondequoit their home. During these years she enjoyed being a grandmother and was able to be a daily part of her granddaughters early years. She loved having this time.

Lauren had an incredibly close relationship with her mother, Elaine who lived a long healthy 94 years. The two talked every day. Lauren knew what a gift it was to have had her mother's guidance and encouragement for all those years.

Lauren was extremely thoughtful and empathic. At Christmas time, she always had just the right gift picked out for each of her family members. Having had many struggles, she felt deeply for anyone she knew to be struggling. It was important to Lauren to always show her friends and family she cared. Even from the nursing home this last year she still mailed cards and made phone calls. Not surprisingly, the saying "Be Kind" struck a chord with Lauren and she was often seen around the nursing home wearing her "Be Kind" t-shirt.

Lauren was preceded in death by her first husband Bradley Clark of Clinton, maternal grandparents Brenda and Seymour Skiff of Syracuse, paternal grandparents Edna and Edward Maurer of Syracuse, mother Elaine Maurer, father Edward Maurer, uncle Marshall Skiff, aunt Joan Skiff and nephew Mathew Maurer.

She is survived by her husband Roger Haas, children Abigail (George) Hodge, Marshall (Maria) Haas, Emily Mischler, grandson Chase Mischler, granddaughters Sabrina and Julia Hodge, brother Larry (Rosemary) Maurer and nephews Ted (Danielle) Maurer and Kenneth (Meghan) Maurer.
