Lonnie Gene Mann, affectionately known as 'Doone' and 'Papa Lonnie', born on January 10th, 1970, in Queens, NY, passed away on January 30th, 2024 in Rochester, NY. Lonnie was born to Mabel Mann and the late Lonnie Mann Sr.
He was the beloved husband of Tracy Mann, devoted father to Makari Mann, Faja Lawton, and Toni Bellamy, cherished brother of the late Lawrence Mann, Christopher Mann, and Ruth Mann, beloved uncle to Wednesday Mann and Raina Mann, and proud grandfather to his two grandchildren, Jaiden Lawton and Lauryn Woods. Lonnie was a dedicated family man, deeply cherished by his loved ones.
Throughout his life, Lonnie was known for his unwavering determination and entrepreneurial spirit. With over 20 years of experience in the optical industry, Lonnie made a significant impact through his work. He began his career as an optical lab technician and optometric technician before pursuing his passion further. Lonnie's dedication led him to graduate from Monroe Community College's optician program and attain his optician's license.
In pursuit of his dreams, Lonnie founded Urban Eyez, a thriving optical shop located in Downtown Rochester. Through Urban Eyez, Lonnie not only provided exceptional eye care services but also created a welcoming space for the community. His vision and ambition inspired those around him, leaving a lasting legacy in the industry.
Lonnie was not only a visionary businessman but also a pillar of strength and support for his family. In times of adversity, he always stepped up to the plate, demonstrating his resilience and compassion. He was known for his stern demeanor tempered with a big heart, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Lonnie lived by the mantra "It is what it is," embodying a philosophy of acceptance and resilience. He preferred to celebrate life and look forward to the future rather than dwell on the past.
Lonnie Gene Mann's passing leaves a void in the lives of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his remarkable spirit, enduring legacy, and the profound impact he made in the lives of others.
Lonnie was a hard working, caring, and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He always helped everyone he knew. Even when Lonnie became ill, he still provided and cared for his family. Lonnie was a Optician at Lens Crafters at Eastview Mall. He will be sadly missed by everyone that knew him.
Family and friends may call 3-6pm Friday February 16, 2024 at New Comer Cremations and Funerals, 2636 Ridgeway Ave. (GREECE LOCATION).
