Rochester: passed into the arms of the Lord on July 23,2009,at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New York, at age 65 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Lon will be forever remembered by Diane, his loving and devoted wife of 40 years, and his daughter Debbie (and husband Matthew), son Richard (and fiancée Crystal), treasured grandchildren Gabriel and Hannah, sister Laurel (and husband Chet), brother Lowell (and wife Barbara) along with countless other family and friends who were blessed to know him.
He was born in Fort Meyers, Florida, to the late Floyd and Inez Thompson and later lived in Rochester, New York, where he retired from the Rochester City School District.
He was a scholar, a teacher, a counselor, an administrator and an entrepreneur who touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity and maintained his trademark sense of humor all the way to the end.
Calling hours with the family begin at 11:OO a.m., Saturday, August 15, 2009 at Lakeshore Community Church, 3651 Latta Road, 14612. A Memorial Service celebrating Lon's life will start at noon followed by a reception. Those who desire may make Memorial Donations in memory of Lon to Lakeshore Community Church or to a charity of their choice.
