Louis (Louie) Amico was born on September 1, 1953, in Rochester N.Y at Rochester General hospital to Sam and Pauline (nee Giumento) Amico. Louie was the youngest of three boys: Samuel (Jack) Amico, Ross Amico and Louie. He grew up to be a kind, loving, and gentle man whose faith, church, family, and friends were very important to him. He loved to laugh and had a good sense of humor where he rarely let anything get him down.
Louie attended Rochester Public School #43, Most Precious Blood Catholic School, Autumn Lane Elementary School, Hoover Drive Junior High School, and Cardinal Mooney High School. He attended Geneseo State College where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and attended graduate school at the University of Texas where he completed a Master's Degree in City and Regional Planning.
Louie was a hard worker and held many different jobs. Upon graduation from the University of Texas, he worked for the Dallas Department of Urban Planning and for a short time as a Realtor in Dallas, Texas. After moving back to Rochester, NY, he worked for Monroe County in implementation of the Federal Comprehensive Employment and Training Act of 1973 (CETA) and for the Epilepsy Foundation of Buffalo. His love for children led him to work as a paraprofessional in the Rochester City School District (RCSD) where he met his former wife, Milagros "Millie" Poventud, whom he married in 2000.
Louie's final career was one of a grant writer for Monroe County and Wilson Commencement Park before becoming a freelance grant writer and consultant.
Music, theatre, and his Church, were Louie's passions. He made his spiritual home at Spiritus Christi Church where he sang in the choir and volunteered in church ministries. Louie was a man of great faith who will be dearly missed.
To mourn his passing He leaves his brother Ross (Margaret) Amico, his sister-in-law Dolores Amico, his Spiritus Christi Church and choir family, his good friend Marion Taylor and a host of nieces and nephews.
