Lula R. Steward

On July 11,2024, Lula R. Steward, who was affectionately known as “Sam” age 77 entered her heavenly rest. Sam was born in Barnwell, SC. on January 31,1947 to Raymond Lugene Riley Sr. deceased and Gertrude Durant Riley deceased. Sam was a resident of the Greater Rochester area for more than 50 years, and more recently was residing in West Henrietta. Sam retired from Paychex in 2013 and was a dedicated member of Faith Church in Brighton for more than 35 years.

Sam married Albert Lee Steward Jr. deceased of Denmark, SC on June 10, 1966. Sam is survived by her 2 sons: Keith Alan Steward, (Germhie) and Derrick Wayne Steward, partner (Shanque Collins). Sam was one of 7 siblings: Emily Curry, (Joseph) deceased, James Riley, Raymond Riley Jr., Gertie Warren deceased, (Bobby), Deloris Evans (Freddie) deceased, and Bernita Smith, (Jesse). Sam was blessed with 6 grandchildren: Deryk Jr., Dustin(deceased), Sean, Anthony, Trevor Jerard and Terrell Douglas. 6 great grandchildren and a host of other children that affectionately knew her as “Mimi.”

With sincere thanks for dedication to Sam during her illness: Cynthia Grady spiritual daughter, Olivia Douglas, Shannon Steward, Ernie Hunt, Renee Davis and Cathy Do.

Home going services for Sam will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at 11:00 am, Faith Church on 1876 Elmwood Avenue, Rochester, New York 14620. Calling hours will be held from 9:00 am -11:00 am at Faith Church. Sam will be laid to rest at Falls Cemetery, Greece, NY 14626.

Romans 10:9 says, "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved"
