Manny Brown Sr., 79, died Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Rochester General Hospital surrounded by his children.
He was born on December 6, 1941. Mr. Brown was the son of Jesse and Serena Brown of Andrews, South Carolina.
In his early years, Mr. Brown traveled as a farmer throughout parts of South Carolina and Florida. After years of farming, he took on jobs in lumber yards that ultimately led him to Rochester, NY, where he worked for Otis Lumber Company now known as Morse Lumber.
He not only took pride in his trade, but truly enjoyed the friendships he made along the way. To friends and family, Mr. Brown was a mild-mannered man with a sense of humor.
He always dressed for the occasion, often wearing sharp suits with the perfect crease up the center of the leg. In his pastime, he had a passion for sports. His favorite football team was the Buffalo Bills; a love he shared with his sons and daughter.
He enjoyed the simple things in life like deviled eggs and Tim Horton's coffee.
He lived on his own despite his declining health. He overcame cancer twice. He spent endless days on dialysis due to kidney failure and he underwent multiple surgeries.
His most proud achievement in life were his sons and daughter who supported him up until their last days together.
Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his wife Eunice Brown, his son Lavern Brown, and his siblings Jerletha Brown, Rachel Brown, Jesse Brown, Edward Brown, Richard Parson, Leroy Brown and Benjamin Brown.
He is survived by his children Manny (Diane) Brown Jr., Alfred Brown, Sandie (Oswald) Brown Maynard & Aaron Brown, his granddaughters: Wakisha Bailey, Marketta Brown, Denika Brown, Charise Brown, Chelsea Maynard, his great granddaughters: Rylin Brown, Romiyah' Lynn McCullough & special friends: Margaret Wilson & Mary Townsend.
His siblings, Arthur (Geneva) Brown of Newark, New Jersey, Herbert and Randolf Brown of Andrews South Carolina and Cynthia (Booker) McCray of Andrews, South Carolina.
A funeral service was held January 20, 2021 at New Comer Funeral Home in Rochester, NY.
