Marie E. Palmer

1931 — 2024

Marie E. Palmer went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 4, 2024 at the age of 93. She was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband Luke Palmer, after 59 years of marriage; parents Thomas and Ethel Lloyd who emigrated from England; sisters Ennis Lloyd and Olga Mortimer; nephew Glenn Mortimer.

Marie was born in May 1931 in Warrington, England, where she met Luke when he was serving with the U.S. Air Force at Burtonwood Air Force Base. She trained as a nanny in England and always loved working with children. She was a youth counselor at Reynoldsville United Methodist Church for 32 years, and was always active in her church and community. Marie also worked for many years at the P&C supermarket in Trumansburg. Visiting local nursing homes was a passion for her, as well.

Luke and Marie traveled quite a bit with the Burtonwood Association to many states in the U.S. and England. They also enjoyed their membership in the Sampson Air Force Association, volunteering many hours in the museum there and spending many summers camping at the park.

Marie is survived by her three children - Ralph (Susan Eckert), Keri Lanning, and Mark; grandchildren - Alicia Stouffer (Justin), Stephanie Straub, Luke, Seth (Kristen), Stephen (Dyan), and Chloe Lanning; special grandchildren Phillip (Cheyenne) Dallas and Samantha Dallas; nieces and nephews - Brenda Smith, Beverly “Jade” Mortimer, Susan Mortimer, and Wayne Mortimer; great-grandchildren - Lilly, Nicholas, Emily, Jocelyn, Cecelia, and Thomas.

Her children are comforted that their parents are with the Lord and each other.
