Marjorie F. Daubert (Byers)

March 15, 1929 — December 23, 2023

Marjorie Daubert peacefully passed away on December 23, 2023 at the age of 94.

She is predeceased by her husband, Elmer; siblings, Frances, Clive, Shirley, Dorothy, Gloria, & Harold.

She is survived by her children, Fran (Brian) Smith, Fred (Denise), Ed (Julie), & Tom (Lynne); 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; siblings, Eugene Byers & Elva Byers; many nieces, nephews, & cousins.

Mom was born in Linsday, Ontario and spent her childhood years at the family hotel in North Bay, Ontario. She loved her Canada and enjoyed telling stories of the great white north. Some of those stories are so alien to the world we live in today, that some might not believe that they were true. But they are. Her family was everything to her and as a nurse she took care of five generations at some point or another. She used to tell a story that when she was little, someone at the hotel asked her why she was always happy when the family didn't have anything (by their standards anyway). Mom said that she never realized that she didn't have a lot because the family had each other and that's all they needed. She never wavered from that belief. She was always there to help anyone who asked and cared deeply about people being treated compassionately.

Even more than her love of the family was her love of the Lord. As long as she was able, she attended church and at one point was involved with prison ministries. Towards the end when she couldn't get around, she enjoyed having the Bible read to her. People didn't always treat her kindly, but I never heard her speak poorly of them. She didn't have good things to say about their actions, but she did not cast any ill will.

There is so much more that mom has done and said that it's not possible to describe even a small portion here. She was an amazing, wonderful person and we love her and will miss her.

In lieu of flowers or donations, we're sure mom would like everyone to try and live out Matthew (7:12): "In everything, do to others what you would have them do to you.". The world needs more of that than anything.

No one ever passes at a convenient time and it's even more so during the holidays. At some point in 2024 we are going to try and organize a celebration of life for her. Details will follow.
