Rochester- Marlene M. Butler, 80, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Marla was born in Rochester, NY on September 12, 1940 to the late Abraham Hamza and Carmela Alaimo (Tramontana). Marla was a graduate of St. Agnes HS class of 1958. She owned gift stores "The Plum Tree" and "Card and Candle" in the 70's and 80's. After that she worked in the family businesses: Marlen Amusements and Comedy Concepts.
She married in 1960 and raised 5 loving children in Irondequoit and Brighton. She treasured her family and friends and was always there to support and celebrate with them or to have a talk on the phone or over coffee. She will always be remembered for her generous spirit, adventurous soul and beautiful smile. She never missed one of children's or grandchildren's games – cheering from the sidelines with her signature jingle bells. She enjoyed the theater, traveling, cooking, dining out, old movies and classes at the Y. She will always be remembered for her enthusiasm in celebrating the holidays and decorating for all occasions. She would bring unexpected smiles as she sent a card to celebrate any and every holiday. She made special occasions even more special with her sparkle, her passion and excitement for life, her love of bright colors and anything with sequins. She was a friend to everyone she met.
