Mary Jeanne (Blanchard) Diener, 78, of Fairport, NY passed away peacefully on January 11, 2021 surrounded by family.
She was born on July 11, 1942 in Toledo, Ohio to Richard Joseph and Kathryn Jane Blanchard and raised in Silver Spring, Maryland. Mary Jeanne attended the Academy of the Holy Names High School before graduating from Catholic University of America in 1964 with a degree in Speech Pathology. Her career as a Speech Therapist began with the Montgomery County Public School System. She was married on July 23, 1966, to her late husband, William Robert Diener, a U.S. Naval Academy graduate. Their early lives together found them in Honolulu, Chicago, and ultimately Fairport, New York. Mary was actively involved in raising her two sons and found rewarding work as a substance abuse counselor and bereavement counselor. Her true passion was partner dancing and her enthusiasm led to volunteering and enjoying dear friends in the dance community. She enjoyed travelling regularly to visit friends and family.
Mary Jeanne is survived by her sons, Michael Diener, New York City, Mark Diener (Dinia Maria) of San Isidro, Costa Rica and grandchild, Israel "Izzy" Ortega Diener as well as siblings John "Jack" (Peggy) Blanchard, Thomas (Patrice), Robert (Julia), Anne (Terrence) Muldoon. She is predeceased by her parents and her brothers Richard J. Blanchard, Jr. and William M. Blanchard.
Visitation will be Wednesday January 20, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the New Comer Cremations and Funerals Westside Chapel, 2636 Ridgeway Ave Rochester, NY. Funeral Mass will be on Thursday January 21, 2021 at the Church of the Assumption, 20 East Avenue, Fairport, NY beginning at 11:15 am with burial immediately after at the White Haven Memorial Park, 210 Marsh Road, Pittsford, NY.
Donations of flowers will be accepted at the New Comer Chapel and monetary donations to Advent Hospice House.
