Mary Ellen "Mare" Mattle went to be with the Lord on October 13, 2022 at the age of 62, following a number of health issues over the last year.
Mary Ellen is predeceased by her parents, Charles "Charlie" and Mary Lou Reilly. She is survived by her two siblings, Brian (Sherry) Reilly, and Suzanne (Sue) Palmer; nieces & nephews Matthew (Kimberly), Jonathan (Adrienne) Turnbull-Reilly, Kirsten (Mark) VandenBout, Hannah, Emma (Paul) Reilly-Wright, Luke Palmer, Seth (Kristen) Palmer, and Stephen (Dyan) Palmer; and several cousins.
Mare was born May 10, 1960, and was raised in Webster - attending St. Rita School, Webster Schroeder Junior High, and Webster Thomas High School. Following a family visit to the old Pine Tree Stables on Kings Highway, Mare fell in love with horseback riding, leading her to compete and earn several blue ribbons in English-style riding events throughout her life, at Herberle, Blackherts, and Way Farms.
Over the years, Mare maintained close friendships with coworkers at Morse Lumber, RG&E, and Enterprise Rental, along with her friends at Joy Community Church. She regularly met with them to enjoy lunch at the Atlantic Restaurant and Royal Dynasty.
Mare spent the last several years with her parents and became their primary caregiver, allowing them to age gracefully at home. After her dad passed in 2016, Mare became her mother's closest ally and supporter, caring for her mom with compassion, selflessness, and perseverance. Mare's kindness and service allowed Mary Lou to remain at home until the day she left this Earth in June 2021.
Mare will be remembered for her kind heart, warm smile, sense of humor, and selfless service to our parents. She has left a large hole in our hearts but we rejoice in her complete healing, as well as her faith and absolute trust in Jesus.
Calling hours will be held 10-11 a.m. on November 5, 2022, with a service immediately following at 11 a.m. Both will be held at Joy Community Church 890 N. Goodman St. in Rochester. A private burial will take place.
For those wishing to honor Mare with a donation or gift, her family asks for donations to Joy Community Church's Hope Shop (food pantry) at 917 N. Goodman St. in Rochester.
