Mary Jean Bishop

February 17, 1937 — February 4, 2024

Penfield-

Went to be with the Lord on February 4, 2024 at the age of 86.

Mary Jean was an amazing Mother/ Grandmother/ Sister/Aunt, wonderful friend, and tremendous woman of God. She was often described in her later years as "The sweetest lady". More than anything, she loved helping people and you would be hard-pressed to find someone more generous than she was. She was always available to listen, to offer a shoulder to cry on, to pray with you, and to give wise counsel….and many, many folks took her up on this over the years. If she became aware of someone who needed a hot meal, couldn't pay a bill, or needed a place to stay, she would make sure they had what they needed….often opening her home to have people stay with her.

Over the years she volunteered in many ways with the church…. driving the van to pick up congregants who needed a ride (and for years did this with her own vehicle as well), volunteered in the church nursery, in children's Sunday school, and with the Healing Rooms of Greater Rochester. She retired after 30 years with Eastman Kodak and was fortunate to enjoy many healthy years of retirement.

We will miss her dearly, but as her son-in-law put it "She has lived her entire life to get to where we know she is now." Indeed. She lived with a song in her heart, a smile on her face, and a prayer on her lips.

Mary Jean was cared for during her last two years by earthly angels, Mimi and her staff at Days Companion Services. They managed her final days with grace and dignity, along with the staff at URMC Hospice. We are eternally grateful for the love and care they gave to her.

Predeceased by her parents, George & Jean Bishop; sister, Helen Brown; brother-in-law, Phillip Golding.

She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Keller & son-in-law, Kurt Keller; son, she was overjoyed to reunite with later in life, Steve (Leanne) Donnelly; grandchildren, Lauren, Eliza & Drew; sister, Elaine Golding; brother-in-law, Bob Brown; many nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.
