Mary Smulka of Webster, NY (formerly of Greece, NY) passed away peacefully on April 24, 2022, surrounded by family. She was 95. Mary was predeceased by her husband Raymond, her parents Adam and Sarah Patrick (Bartus) and her siblings Joseph, John, and Helen Patrick of Rochester and Anna Markowicz of Krakow, Poland. She is survived by her daughters Kathleen Bell Kelley and Ann Smulka, son-in-law Robert Blackburn, granddaughters Sarah Bell and Elisabeth Blackburn, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mary was known for her joie de vivre and kind gestures that lifted people's spirits throughout her life. She had the curiosity, ability, and charm to strike up a conversation with almost anyone she met and thus was only momentarily a stranger wherever she went. Mary enjoyed swimming, playing competitive bridge games, hosting gatherings with friends, rooting for the underdog, and spontaneously belting out a song inspired by something you said. Equipped with a legendary repertoire, she relished sharing a good joke, too. Mary always looked on the bright side of life and will be missed.
A private burial service will be held with friends and family at 12 PM, June 13, at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. The celebration of her life will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, Mary hoped that you would perform a random act of kindness to brighten someone's day or make a donation in her memory to
Foodlink or charity of your choice.
