Millie's (Mom, Nana) life was all about family and friends. Millie was a member of the famous Eiffelettes and a graduate of Ben Franklin High School. Post-graduation Millie and Herman were soon married and their life's adventure started. The Army moved them and son Kurt to Anchorage Alaska where son Karl was born. After several years in Alaska and after Herman's discharge from the Army, they settled on Frontenac Heights in Irondequoit where daughter Karol and son Kraig were born. On Frontenac Heights, Millie set about raising her family and making fast friends with Shirley Weaver, Evelyn Devries and Ann Miller, to name a few. Millie embraced Herman's passion for skiing and many a weekend you could see her on the slopes in her red ski parka and white powder puff hat. That shared passion found them skiing out West as well as in Canada.
As her children grew and started families of their own Millie opened her heart and home to new her "sons" and "daughters" embracing them with the welcoming loving spirit that would define her. All were welcomed in Millie's house. Millie loved meeting new people and sharing a good laugh, her bright eyes sparkling. Millie loved to dance and she and Herman joined the EkCo Squares and enjoyed several years of Square Dancing. They both loved to travel and visited family in the Southwest, Georgia, Hawaii, and New Zealand. Millie was fond of gardening and when they moved to Rock Beach Road, she was able to spend many happy hours in her flower beds. The home on Rock Beach became the family gathering spot during the summer enjoying, swimming, BBQ and the annual 4th of July candy hunt. Their home was also the site of the family's Christmas Eve celebrations with Millie's sour brauten, noodles and potato salad. Millie and Herm would travel to Buffalo every other Christmas to be with Betty and Ken. Millie also enjoyed quilting, and crocheting. Each of her children and grandchildren have afghans made to her loved ones color desires. Millie enjoyed a good card game and would frequently win the pot. After retirement there would be trips to Las Vegas to visit Marilyn, Clovis, and the casinos. Back home Millie and Herman frequented nearby Turning Stone, Batavia Downs and Finger Lakes casinos. In her later years, at the Lakeshore condominiums, Millie would once again easily made friends in her welcoming way.
Millie will be greatly missed by family and friends.
