Murphy "Murph" Loncao, a remarkable individual whose long life resonated with love, kindness, and dedication, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2025, at the venerable age of 100. Born on September 18, 1924, Rochester, New York, Murph exemplified the true spirit of a family man whose legacy will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Having served honorably as a Sergeant in the Army Air Corps during World War II, Murph exhibited bravery and commitment reflected in his receiving of the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. His military service was a testament to his character and an indelible mark on his life's journey.
For many years, Murph dedicated himself to his employer the Eastman Kodak Company.
Murph was an avid reader who found solace and adventure within the pages of countless books. A sports enthusiast, he proudly cheered for his beloved Buffalo Bills, where in contrast exhibited a spirited disdain for the New York Yankee baseball team, a humorous quirk admired by many. In his younger days he enjoyed his time on the golf course. Perhaps most notably, Murph had a fondness for and was a devoted fan of the movie, "The Godfather," having watched it so many times that he could recite its dialogues with ease—a delightful testament to his passion for storytelling.
He leaves a legacy that speaks volumes about the love and dedication he bestowed on those close to him. He is survived by his children, Jeffrey (April), Todd (Lisa), and Tracy Loncao, alongside his treasured grandchildren, T.J., Elizabeth, and McKenna. Their lives are now imbued with the teachings and love imparted by their beloved patriarch.
Murph's journey was not without its sorrows, as he was predeceased by his wife Joyce in 2014, whose memory he carried closely in his heart, and by his sisters, Lillian and Theresa Loncao.
A visitation will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals located at 6 Empire Blvd, Rochester, NY, on Friday January 10, 2025, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM, followed by a Prayer Service. He will then be interred at Oakwood Cemetery Association in Penfield, NY, at 1:00 PM.
As we reflect on the life of Murph Loncao, we celebrate not merely the years of his existence but the myriad of memories that he carved into the hearts of those who loved him. His spirit shines bright, forever echoing the values of family, appreciation, and kindness, ensuring his legacy endures through the generations that follow.
