On Friday April 2nd 2021, Naomi Jean Tait, loving wife and mother to four sons, passed away 5 days short of her 87th birthday.
Naomi (who preferred to go by Jeannie) was born on April 7th 1934 in Pennsylvania to Robert and Burnece Griffin. Jeannie went to the old East High school where she met the love of her life Gordon Tait. On June 13th 1953, she married Gordon and they had four sons Mark, Robert, David and Timothy.
Jeannie started out her life with Gordon as an Airforce wife during the Korean War, following him to Kansas to live on an airbase. After the war they settled back in Rochester NY to raise their growing family. During those years they had four sons and Gordon took a job at Kodak. Jeannie was very involved with her sons and went to every single Hockey game she could. She even found time to play Hockey herself and was a goalie for a local women's team. Jeannie's passion was her family. She was never happier then when she and her sister Joan would get their families together, She was so proud of her sister and just loved being with her. She and Gordon went on many trips together, from the beaches of Hawaii to a coast to coast trip where they drove their Buick all over the country. In later years as her family grew her delight came from her grandchildren. She would jump at the chance to watch them or take them to the Science Museum or Butterfly Conservatory. In 2003 Jeannie and Gordon celebrated their 50th wedding Anniversary. It was a great moment for them as it was the only time all their Grandchildren we're all together. Jeannie and Gordon would go on to be married for another 18 years making it just shy of their 68th Anniversary. In her later years she settled into a life mostly at home, making sure she was surrounded by pictures of the ones she loved so much and life's beautiful moments. Even though she was unfortunately stricken by heath issues, she never lost her faith, charm or sweetness. Through it all she maintained her grace and strength, never giving up and fought through it all. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. One common theme that always surrounded Jennie was her sweetness and giving. Every person who knew her would say she was the nicest and sweetest person they ever met. She led a full life and one that should be absolutely celebrated.
Jeannie was preceded in death by her father Robert, and her mother Burnece. She is survived by her husband Gordon, their four sons, her sister Joan and her children, and all her beloved Grandchildren and Great Grandchild. As per her request, no funeral service will be held, only a small private ceremony at the cemetery.
