GATES- Neta Irene Tumia, 78, passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 surrounded by the love of her family.
Neta was born in Rochester, NY on August 10, 1943 to the late Clifford and Elva Swope. On September 2, 1972 she married Samuel Tumia Sr. They were married for 46 years until his passing in 2018, and together they raised three children. She worked as a nurse for Genesee Hospital, and retired as a teacher's aide in the Spencerport School District in 2007. Neta loved crafts, baking, reading, and ordering from QVC. Her passion in life was her family. Especially her grandchildren. Neta never had a bad word to say about anyone, and she will be remembered for her kind, generous, and loving heart, and she will be missed by all who knew her.
She is predeceased by her husband, Samuel Sr.
She is survived by her beloved children, Samuel Tumia Jr., Timothy (Rebecca Sheldon) Tumia, Sharon Tumia Hopkins, her grandchildren, Juliana Hopkins, Samuel Hopkins, and Ella Tumia, her sister, Susan (Orren) Vetter, and many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
A funeral service will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 2636 Ridgeway Ave., Rochester, NY 14626, on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at 11am. Burial will be held at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Rochester, NY on Friday, July 15, 2022 at 10am.
