Odie Floyd Green Sr.

March 28, 1953 — July 12, 2023

Odie Floyd Green Sr. was born to Henry and Ruth Green on March 28th, 1953 in Belle Glade
Florida. In 1971 Odie graduated from Glades Central Community High School, top of his class.
After graduating high school, Odie enrolled in Florida Memorial College in Miami, FL. Upon
completion of college, Odie enlisted in the US Army, where he served the majority of his time in
Germany as a Medic. He was referred to as "Doc." Odie was honorably discharged after serving
his 4 year active duty enlistment. After returning to his home town of South Bay, Fl, Odie joined
the fire department where he served as fire chief. Later on Odie transferred to Belle Glade fire
department where he was one of the first African American FireFighters in the city's history. In
1981, Odie migrated to Rochester, NY with his family where he started a new and adventurous
life. Odie spent nearly 2 decades of an illustrious career, working for the Xerox Corporation,
prior to attending Monroe Community College in his 50's and later retiring from the workforce in
2021.

Odie was affectionately known as Big Old Dogg and Pretty Boy Floyd by his friends. To his
family he will always be Da, daddy, and Uncle Odie. Old Dogg will mostly be remembered by his
contagious smile, witty jokes, conversations and baking skills. Odie made the best Red velvet
cakes and BBQ ribs you'd ever experience. Odie often enjoyed relaxing with his family which
included fishing and watching the Miami Dolphins play football, all while enjoying an occasional
cigar. Odie was motivational and uplifting to his friends and family. He was the family's outlet
and had a special way of making impossible situations seem possible.

On July 12th, 2023, Odie made his transition to be with the Lord. He passed away peacefully in
his home surrounded by loved ones.

Odie is predeceased by his Grandmother; Flora Lofton (Marose), Mother; Ruth Green (Madear),
Father; Henry Green (Gull H), Sisters; Shirley McCauley and Gloria McBride, lastly his brothers;
Leonard Green Sr. and Kenneth McBride.

Odie is survived by his 7 children; Marcus Calloway, Odie F. Green Jr. (Farrah Cherubin),
Anthony C. Green, Dominique Sloan-Woods (Steven Woods), Daniel Sloan, Lisa Carrion and
Angel Carrion. 21 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. His siblings; Janet Graham of South
Bay, FL, Charles Green (Flora) of Hollywood, FL, Ida Henry (John) of Jacksonville, FL,
Josephine Hartley (Fitzroy) of South Bay FL, Patricia McNeil (John) of Okeechobee, FL, Sophia
Jernigan (Reginald) of Port St. Lucie FL, Terry Hammond of Clewiston, FL, Brother in law;
Alexander McCauley of South Bay, FL, Special friends; Jenny White, Samantha Johnson-Sears
and Debra Sloan, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and grieving friends.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, July 18th, 2023. 4:00pm-7:00pm
at New Comer Funeral Home,2636 Ridgeway Ave, Rochester, NY 14626
